Ragnarok recently launched a series of emails for a Fortune 500 retailer leveraging Braze’s Connected Content and Liquid Logic. Ragnarok started by defining: 

  • Goal or Objective — In this case, targeting users who recently viewed or favorited a product with an alert that it is now on sale, plus dynamic product recommendations based on their interests.
  • ChallengesAre they on sale and available in that region? This series competed with seasonal emails, creating overlapping audiences and the best promo converters.
  • MeasurementCompare purchases from users who receive email series against a control group within a 28-day window.
  • Testing Plan — The program was tested against a control group to validate the impact during the 28-day window.
  • Eligibility — Not purchased in 14 days; the item is available in their region, and the user has one item on sale that was browsed or favorited.
  • Data — Braze’s Connected Content enables the API to dynamically insert a product that was now on sale and favorited by the user into the hero section (above the fold) of the email template. We integrated with the client’s data warehouse and leveraged a CDP to check recent items on sale, browsed within the last 90 days, or actively favorited but not purchased. The audience data was directly synced into Braze to trigger each Canvas.
  • Content — We then used Liquid Logic to dynamically display all content and validate the items that were available in the region at the send time. We had a default setting and an abort option if the items were unavailable.
